MADRID (Reuters) – The founder and proprietor of trend empire Mango, Isak Andic, died on Saturday in a mountain accident, police stated. He was 71.
The businessman slipped and fell over 100 metres from a cliff whereas climbing with family members within the Montserrat caves close to Barcelona, a police spokesperson stated.
“His departure leaves an enormous void however all of us are, in a roundabout way, his legacy and the testimony of his achievements. It’s as much as us … to make sure that Mango continues to be the mission that Isak was formidable and happy with,” Mango’s CEO, Toni Ruiz, stated in an announcement.
Born in Istanbul, Andic moved along with his household to the northeastern Spanish area of Catalonia within the Nineteen Sixties and based Mango in 1984. He was price $4.5 billion, in keeping with Forbes. He was non-executive chairman of the corporate when he died.
He was seen as a rival to Amancio Ortega, the proprietor of Inditex (BME:ITX), the world’s largest fast-fashion retailer.
Mango had a turnover of three.1 billion euros in 2023 with 33% of its enterprise on-line and a presence in additional than 120 markets.
