New York’s electrical grid prepared to satisfy chilly snap demand, operator says


(Reuters) – The New York Unbiased (LON:IOG) System Operator (NYISO) mentioned on Friday that the state’s electrical grid is ready to satisfy anticipated energy demand throughout a forecasted chilly snap from Monday to Wednesday.

About 29,514 megawatts (MW) of energy sources can be found to serve load throughout the state the place the demand is predicted to succeed in 23,800 MW, the grid operator mentioned in a press release.

“If mandatory, NYISO operators can dispatch as much as a further 2,275 MW via emergency working procedures to keep up reliability throughout subsequent week’s chilly snap,” NYISO mentioned.
