Trump says he’s not positive US must be spending something on NATO

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday stated he was unsure america must be spending something on NATO, telling reporters the U.S. was defending NATO members, however they have been “not defending us.”

Trump earlier demanded that different members of the transatlantic alliance spend 5% of their gross home product (GDP) on protection – an enormous improve from the present 2% purpose and a stage that no NATO nation, together with america, at the moment achieves.

“I am unsure we must be spending something, however we should always actually be serving to them,” Trump advised reporters after signing an government order within the Oval Workplace. “We’re defending them. They don’t seem to be defending us.”
