Senate could vote on Trump treasury nominee Bessent this weekend, prime Republican says


WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate might vote to verify Republican President Donald Trump’s nominee for treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, this weekend, Majority Chief John Thune stated on Thursday.

The Senate Finance Committee accredited Bessent by a 16-11 vote on Tuesday, with two Democrats voting in favor.

Republicans maintain a 53-47 majority within the Senate, however Thune has complained that Democrats are utilizing procedural maneuvers to sluggish the approval of a few of Trump’s extra controversial picks, together with former Fox Information host Pete Hegseth for protection secretary and vaccine skeptic Robert F.
